While Queen Elizabeth II was being buried, the Australian presenter Ally Langdon worked 14 hours that day and then the battery suddenly ran out. 

Australian TV presenter Ally Langdon, like many journalists, was present covering news and sharing updates at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II such as the fact that: 

  • The coffin of Queen Elizabeth was selected by herself almost 30 years ago, not by her son the successor King Carlos III.
  • Many police officers accompanied Queen Elizabeth on her last trip to London. Thousands of people fill the streets to bid farewell to the Queen.
  • “A privilege to witness the final departure of the late Queen from Buckingham Palace. A woman who meant so much to so many people. What a farewell!” This was read on her social media account while he was still reporting from London.

But after 14 hours of continuous looping, it’s a bit over! Ally Langdon’s batteries needed to be recharged. And what’s the best way to do it? Right, with a nap, at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. The overworked presenter grabbed a blanket and settled down amidst the commotion.

2. She finally went home to her two babies:

After an exhaustive coverage of the Queen’s funeral, Ally Langdon went back to her son born in January 2017, followed by a daughter in March 2019. She shared the children with her husband. It was reported on August 26, 2007, that Langdon had announced her engagement to journalist Michael Willesee, Jr., son of former current affairs host Mike Willesee. Langdon and Willesee, Jr. married in 2008. 

3. She filed a restraining order on an obsessive fan: 

Langdon filed a harassment complaint against a fan who she says went too far by sending her sexually explicit love letters. The fan, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, is prohibited from coming within 500m of Langdon or Channel Nine’s Willoughby studios in Sydney and appeared in court on June 22, 2007.

In February 2009, Langdon came under fire for her reporting in Marysville, Victoria, which had been devastated by the Black Saturday bushfires and where 34 people had died. The city was sealed off as a crime scene, but Langdon and her camera crew flew into the scene by helicopter despite a police ban on entering the city.

Allison Langdon (born May 20, 1979) is an Australian reporter, news anchor, and author. In 2008, Langdon released her first book; The Child Who Never Was: Finding Tegan Lane, which examined the murder of newborn Tegan Lane by her mother De Ella Keli Lane. 

6. Growing up, she hosted night radio shows at school: 

Growing up, a cute young Ally Langdon graduated from Wauchope High School and Port Macquarie’s MacKillop Senior College. During her time at school, she hosted Monday night radio shows on the local community radio station 2WAY FM, which is based in Wauchope. After leaving school, she studied journalism at Charles Sturt University and filed stories for the Community Radio Network of Australia’s national radio news service, run by the CBAA. She was also a host for the campus community radio station 2MCE- FM. 

7. From working at Nightline to 60 Minutes to Today’s Show:

Langdon is currently a co-host of the Nine Network breakfast show Today and was previously a reporter for 60 Minutes and a co-host for Weekend Today. 

After completing her journalism degree, which included an internship with CBS in New York City, Langdon joined the Nine Network and began her media career as a producer for Nightline in 2001.

In 2002, as a producer for the National Nine News ‘ 6:00 p.m. bulletin, Langdon worked until she realized that she was seeking more experience on the road. Soon, Langdon moved into the Nine’s Darwin newsroom and, in her first year on the Top End, won the David Marchbank Award for Best Newcomer. 

In parallel to her rounds as a political reporter for the Northern Territory , Langdon traveled to China and East Timor covering stories for news and the Sunday Show as well. 

Langdon was one of the first Australian journalists on the ground after the bombing of the Australian embassy in Jakarta in September 2004. She requested all of Nine’s newsletters daily.

In October 2004, Langdon returned to Sydney as a general reporter, taking over court rounds for the National Nine News. Three years later in early 2007, she was appointed as the news anchor on Today, filling in for Georgie Gardner while she was on maternity leave for the first half of 2007. Later in 2007, Langdon used to anchor National Nine News: Morning Edition and National Nine News: Late Edition Newsletters on Fridays. Langdon also presented newsletters during the summer of 2007-08. 

In 2008, Langdon was named the host of Nightline’s Fridays, remaining in this role until the show’s completion. Langdon continued as a fill-in anchor for Nine News until 2008. Also, Langdon was a senior reporter in the Sydney newsroom, continuing to fill in the Nine News and Today bulletins.

In 2011, Ally Langdon became a reporter on Network Nine’s 60-minute show. By December 2017, Langdon was named co-host of Weekend Today replacing Deborah Knight. She will also continue as a reporter on 60 Minutes and fill-in presenter on Nine News Sydney and Today.  In November 2019, the Nine Network announced that Langdon will host Today with Karl Stefanovic starting in January 2020.
